Figure 1 - Calculate Block in View Mode (top) and Edit Mode (bottom)

Performs math operations using Number Block values (values from Number sections on your character sheet) or fixed numbers. Perfect for auto-calculated ages, combined scores, or tracking time elapsed.

Calculate Blocks also work on the Chapters page, where they can crunch numbers from other Number Blocks on the same scene's layout. See Chapter Block Types.

How It Works

  • Input 1: Select a Number Block OR enter a fixed number
  • Operation: Add, Subtract, Multiply, or Divide
  • Input 2: Select another Number Block OR enter a fixed number
  • Result: Updates automatically when source values change

Common Uses

  • Age: Current year as a fixed number (e.g. 1873) − "Birth Year" block
  • Combined Score: "Skill" + "Experience"
  • Years of Service: "End Year" − "Start Year"
  • Percentages: "Chapters Completed" ÷ "Total Chapters"

Tip: Both inputs can be either a fixed number or a Number Block. Use fixed values for constants (like current year) and Number Blocks for character-specific values (like birth years).

Configuration

Configure Calculate

Figure 2 - Calculate Block configuration panel

To configure a Calculate Block, go to Settings > Character Sheet Setup and click on the block to reveal its settings panel.

  • Block Title: Custom label (default: "Calculate")
  • Input 1 Type: Choose "Fixed Number" for constants or "Number Block" for a character field
  • Calculation Type: Add (+), Subtract (-), Multiply (×), or Divide (÷)
  • Input 2 Type: Choose "Fixed Number" for constants or "Number Block" for another field
  • Round to whole numbers: Enable for ages or counts. Otherwise shows up to 2 decimal places
